Photocast Update

For those of you wondering what happened to my photocasting stuff in the sidebar (as well as the photocast search), sadly my .Mac account expired. I do intend on renewing it, probably when I purchase a MacBook in the next couple months, but for the time being, I have other places I need to spend that money. We’re still trying to recover from the wedding costs. :)

Wedding Photos!

Another few hundred fantastic wedding photos have made their way in. We have about 800 photos now spanning the entire weekend, from rehearsal to reception. And this is not counting the photos from the actual wedding photographers! This was one of the perks of having several friends and family members with an interest in photography and good cameras. I’ll post a couple of my favorite photos below, as well as a link to the Flickr set.

Vendor Review

I want to make sure and specifically note the various vendors and professionals we hired at our wedding. Jessica and I feel we got more than our money’s worth out of almost everyone, and I would recommend them to anyone. So, in no particular order:

Seattle Asian Art Museum: The venue for our wedding. It’s not cheap, but it’s one of the most beautiful buildings to throw a party in.

Bon Appetit: SAM’s exclusive caterer. You may think that having to use an exclusive caterer would mean the food quality would be low and/or prices would be high. But you would be wrong. The people at Bon Appetit bent over backwards to get us the food we wanted at a competitive price. The service was outstanding. As an example, we went straight from the ceremony into a private room so we could have 10 minutes to relax before entering the reception. Bon Appetit had set up a small table with food, two different types of wine, candles, and elegant place settings for us to enjoy during our time. Outstanding!

AWI Photography: As I said above, we haven’t yet received our photographs from them (we’re supposed to very soon now). I’ll let you know how they look when we get them, but the service they provided was top-notch. From the engagement photo shoot to the way they conducted their business at the wedding, AWI was wonderful. It also helped that they’re photography style was exactly what we wanted (sort of a photojournalistic style) and they were extremely competitive price-wise.

Aaron Mesaros and band: We really wanted a classy, jazzy, upscale sound for our reception. Aaron and his band fulfilled that desire perfectly! I would highly, highly recommend them to anyone.

The Wedding - Prelude

March 12, 2006 @ 01:51 PM

The wedding was yesterday… I don’t really have time right now to go into great detail. Let’s just say, the wedding was perfect. And not just in the oh-I-got-married-everything’s-perfect perfect. Literally, everything was exactly the way we’ve been planning for it to be, and more. The catering exceeded our expectations, the venue was perfect, practically no unexpected problems. The jazz band was fantastic.

Here are a couple photos we’ve received so far:

Photocast Searching

March 07, 2006 @ 06:04 AM

I’ve added a new feature to iBrasten, called Photocast Searching. To use it, type something into the Live Search bar to the left. If you’d like something that returns a result, may I suggest “AJ”, or “Safeco”, or “Jessica”?

Notice that the live search now returns photo results??? Slick, eh? I intend to get Flickr feeds working soon also.

Welcome to the new iBrasten!

Typo-powered

Welcome to the new iBrasten blog! Over the last couple years there have been several things I’ve really wanted to do with my blog. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to do most of them because I was running blog software that I didn’t really know how to work with. I understand PHP is supposed to be fairly simple, but I simply hadn’t taken the time to learn it fully. To this day I don’t understand how WordPress themes work.

So, I’ve switch to Typo, and built my first theme. I’m calling this theme “Portland.” The reason being that the photo at the top of the page was taken by my fiancee while in Portland. It’s a sign that stands on the east side (I think) of Pioneer Courthouse Square.

.Mac Photocasting

I’ve also built my first Typo plugin! It allows you to integrate your .Mac Photocasts into your website much like a Flickr badge. (You can see this is action on the sidebar). It also includes a controller and view for browsing a complete photocast, which you can see by clicking on one of the photocast links in the sidebar.

It’s a work in progress, but it’s simplified my life a bit.

And before I get the “why aren’t you using Flickr?” posts… because I have .Mac for many other reasons, and since photocasting’s available to me, and now it integrates with my blog well, I want to use it. So there. :)

Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. :)
